Biography

Wolfgang Noeth, born in 1974 in Regensburg, is a German Tenor. After private lessons with legendary Walter Berry, he studied Music-Voice/Opera at the famous Mozarteum University in Salzburg / Austria with former Metropolitan Opera member Lilian Sukis. After successfully participating in an Austrian singer‘s competition, the Opera House of Graz/Austria employed him as a regular cast member under it‘s music director Philippe Jordan, with whom he did various productions for several seasons. Noeth was to be singing together with Grammy Award winner and famous Wagner Tenor Reiner Goldberg, who later became his teacher and mentor. He started touring as a freelance artist and sang major roles at some of Europe‘s leading opera houses, such as the Teatro Verdi Trieste (Italy), the Staatstheater Wiesbaden (Duke in Verdi‘s Rigoletto) and at the Staatsoper Hannover (with the same role). Wolfgang Noeth is a cherished Lied interpreter. His regular repertoire includes roles like Tamino in „Magic Flute“ (Mozart), Max in „Der Freischütz“ (Weber), Cassio in Otello, Macduff in Macbeth, Manrico in „Il trovatore“, Alvaro in „La forza del destino“ (all Verdi), Edgardo in „Lucia di Lammermoor“ (Donizetti), Rodolfo in „La bohéme“ and many more.

Although being German, his voice has a brilliant „italianitá“ and he is known for his belcantistic style of singing. Through his tenor-unlike size of nearly 2 meters he has an overwhelming stage presence.

Wolfgang Noeth is also a vocal teacher and advisor.
